Get your bicycles ready! The La Oliva Town Council, through the Sports Department led by Gleiber Carreño, is proud to present the twelfth edition of the Electrón Fuertebike. This competition, organised by Columbus Eventos in collaboration with the municipal council and the Island Council of Fuerteventura, is now a notable fixture in the sporting calendar. The event will feature exciting new elements such as rechargeable tracks, various musical performances, and other surprises that will highlight sports on the Island. This challenge also demonstrates a strong environmental commitment, aiming to preserve the unique natural surroundings in which the race takes place.
Continued Support for Local Sports
The mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, expresses the intention to continue promoting sports in the municipality: “Events like the Fuertebike have become essential for many of our local athletes and visitors to Fuerteventura who choose to participate in the race. The Town Council considers it vital to continue supporting events that emphasise physical activity.”
Significance of the Event
Meanwhile, the Sports Councillor, Gleiber Carreño, highlights the importance of the event within the sporting landscape of the Island: “The Fuertebike transcends local boundaries to attract athletes from across Fuerteventura and beyond. It is undoubtedly one of the largest cycling competitions in all of the Canary Islands, and we take great pride in hosting this event in La Oliva.”

Lastly, the Councillor for Tourism and the Environment, David Fajardo, emphasises the relationship between tourism and the MTB race: “Tourism and the Environment are integral to events like the Fuertebike, as it attracts not only our residents but also visitors to the Island, positioning La Oliva as a key sporting tourist destination while respecting our natural surroundings, which is our greatest asset.”
