The Antigua Rally Sprint, in its second edition, has established itself as a benchmark asphalt event in the motor calendar of Fuerteventura, organised impeccably by the united clubs of Fuerteventura.
The event held yesterday, consisting of six runs, left us with the unfortunate accident of Víctor Afonso and Jonay Fragiel in the Hyundai I20 R5, who fortunately are in good health.
In sporting terms, it was a tough and wearing event that caused many withdrawals, with only 13 vehicles finishing. However, it was also a race of immense beauty and excitement right up to the final run, where the podium, which seemed decided, took a dramatic turn, resulting in:
Edgar Camacho and José Carballo (Volkswagen Golf)
Miguel Quintino and Oscar Ramos (BMW M3)
Sergio López and Kilian Camacho (Mitsubishi EVO VI)
The Sports Councillor of the Cabildo, Luiso González, who was present during the event, highlighted the extraordinary organisation of the event, the good behaviour of the spectators and the satisfaction of the competitors, who see how this season is solidifying a rally calendar that just a few years ago was very much in jeopardy.
