The Councillor for Social Action, Águeda Fumero, recently visited the facilities “where we have undertaken renovations that have resolved the deterioration of the building, offering better service to its users”

From the Cabildo “we also provide an annual contribution of over 70,000 euros for the acquisition of food, understanding that collaboration between the island institution and third sector entities is essential for improving management in the social realm”

The Councillor for Social Action, Águeda Fumero, recently visited the La Milagrosa Social Dining Room in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where the IASS (Institute of Social and Socio-Health Care) has funded renovation works, aiming to “resolve the deterioration of the building, offering better service to its users.”

The La Milagrosa Social Dining Room is “a space that promotes the social inclusion of individuals in conditions of social vulnerability,” being a “unique” entity in the Centro-Ifara district of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which provides daily lunch for over 100 people, along with shower, laundry, and clothing services.

In addition, training activities, employment inclusion, recreational and socio-cultural services are also carried out, as well as social care, legal, and psychopedagogical advice, implementing workshops on healthy living habits, addiction prevention, and educational and employment guidance, among other matters.

The grant awarded by the IASS has allowed for the installation of smoke detection systems, the replacement of doors and windows within the centre, and the provision of new inventory equipment to improve the quality of care offered to users and the professional staff of the Social Work.

Moreover, as Fumero explains, “from the Cabildo we make a contribution, which in 2024 exceeded 72,000 euros, for the acquisition of food, understanding that collaboration between the island institution and third sector entities is of vital importance for improving the management of social services on the island.”

During the visit, Councillor Águeda Fumero thanked the entity for “its constant commitment and work in providing services to those in a situation of vulnerability, offering them the tools in their search for opportunities.”
