The island institution promotes training actions in digital skills, languages, and employment skills within the agreements with councils and the Youth Active programme
The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Inclusive Training and Employment, continues its commitment to the training and skills development of the young population and the individuals participating in the Employment Agreement between the Cabildo of Lanzarote and local corporations for 2024-2025. In total, nearly 200 people have taken part in the various actions developed under the Youth Active programme and the agreements between the Cabildo and the councils.
The Councillor for Inclusive Employment, Ascensión Toledo, recently visited those who have joined the Youth Active employment-generating project, which is financed by the Canarian Employment Service and the European Social Fund, through the Second Chance Programme of Youth Guarantee, aimed at 32 young people aged over 16 and under 30, and whose duration will extend until 29 December. The main objective of this programme is to improve the employability of young people by combining professional experience with training in key skills.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted that “the island institution will continue to invest in active employment and training policies as a tool for the inclusion and professional future of our young people. Investing in training is investing in the development of Lanzarote and La Graciosa and in the improvement of the quality of life of our population.”
For her part, Toledo stated that “cross-cutting training is key to improving the employability of young people and all those accessing an employment agreement. We are committed to useful training that is close to social and labour realities, allowing them to navigate the job market with more confidence.”
In this context, courses in digital skills for employment and basic level English have been delivered, each lasting 20 hours, along with employment skills through the project ‘Florece con Actitud’ for 15 hours. This is complemented by cross-cutting training actions, which include labour risk prevention, computer literacy, handling of phytosanitary products, road safety, first aid, home economics, entrepreneurship, gender equality, addiction prevention, environmental awareness, and access to vocational training, among others.
