Humour, love, barriers, music, unresolved scars… all this, and much more, makes up The Invisible Diva, the acclaimed musical production by Amartes Escénicas, set to take place at the Jameos del Agua Auditorium on Saturday, 27th September, starting at 20:00.
Written by Albano Matos and Daniel María, and directed by Oscar Rivero and Matos himself, The Invisible Diva is an anthology musical monologue that begins just before the much-anticipated return of Brava to the stage after several years away. Upon spotting three former lovers in the audience, Brava’s past comes flooding back. Unable to perform, she retreats to her dressing room, pouring her heart out to Mimi, a mannequin who has become her vital confidante. Through this intimate ritual, Brava relives the loves that have marked her life and reveals the barriers faced by trans women in emotional, social, and professional realms.
Starring actress and singer Alicia Ramos, the show paints an honest and deeply human portrait of the trans experience, tackling everyday challenges with emotion, memory, and dignity. Through Brava’s story, a historically marginalised community is brought into the spotlight, questioning the persistent stigmas while conveying a powerful message of respect, equality, and justice for all, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.
One of the standout features of the production is its live music, featuring renditions of ten iconic songs by the legendary Italian singer Mina, including “Parole, Parole”, “Fiume azzurro” (known as “Surviviré” in Mónica Naranjo’s version), and “Un año de amor”, popularised by Luz Casal. The band consists of Manuel López on piano and musical direction, David Álamo on guitar, and Carlos Peñalver on drums.
Tickets are now available for the performance of “The Invisible Diva” via the link.
