Local police officers in Tinajo intervened on the morning of Wednesday, 20th August, to save the life of a man who suffered a cardiac arrest in the swimming pool of Hotel Club La Santa.
Upon receiving the alert via CECOES, the officers quickly arrived at the scene where they found the individual in the pool. They extricated him from the water and initiated the initial resuscitation efforts. Subsequently, they set up and activated the Semi-Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), successfully reviving him until the health services arrived. Following stabilization, he was transported to Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in the Lanzarote capital by a medicalised ambulance from the Canary Islands emergency services.
Recognition for Quick Action
The Mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, and Councillor for Security, Yurena Cubas, expressed their public gratitude to the responding officers for their swift and successful action, which was crucial in saving the man’s life. This isn’t the first time they have acted in similar emergencies. They also commended the Chief of the Local Police, Eduardo Ferrer, who, despite being off duty, was present and involved in the resuscitation efforts.
The Town Hall of Tinajo and the Local Police Chief aim to publicly recognise the officers involved, highlighting the critical importance of first aid training and the use of defibrillators. In situations like this, such training enables effective responses to life-threatening emergencies, ultimately saving many lives.
