The Cabildo Awards Improvement Works for External Lighting at Güímar Industrial Park

The Councillor for Industry, Manuel Fernández, announces that “the total budget for this project, part of the planned action plan for this industrial area, exceeds €600,000”

The Cabildo is investing a total of €629,385.88 to enhance the external lighting at the Güímar Valley industrial park.

Councillor for Industry, Manuel Fernández, explains that this initiative “is part of the action plan we devised to renew and regenerate the environment of this significant industrial area in Tenerife.”

The project involves replacing at least 25 columns with their respective luminaires, evaluating the potential restoration of some existing ones, and replacing those that are in poor condition or lying on the ground.

Additionally, the work will include the replacement of current VSAP luminaires with high-efficiency LED lighting to reduce energy consumption. It will also incorporate telemanagement systems to optimise energy use and improve lighting management, replace stolen inspection covers, and assess electrical panels and circuits, identifying and rectifying any irregularities detected.

Manuel Fernández emphasises that “the actions we are undertaking in the vicinity of the Güímar industrial park represent the fulfilment of the commitment we made at the start of this term, focused on ending more than 10 years of neglect of this economically significant area for our island.”

This initiative is the second the Cabildo has carried out in this area, following improvements to the roads, green spaces, and pavements of the park. The councillor has announced further investments in the coming months, but underscores that “alongside the work being done by the administration, it is essential to activate the Urban Conservation Entity (EUC) in collaboration with the three municipalities in which the park is located, property owners, and under the leadership of the Cabildo.”

The councillor concludes that “these actions are tools to help enhance the daily operations of industrial areas, specifically the Güímar park, with the aim of positively impacting the competitiveness of businesses and attracting investment to the industrial sector, which is fundamental for achieving economic diversification in Tenerife.”
