From 20 August to 30 October 2025, an initiative combining solidarity, mental health, and economic revitalisation will be active in Puerto del Rosario. The Majorera Association for Mental Health (Asomasamen) and the Puerto del Rosario Business Association have launched a Solidarity Raffle, which aims to raise funds for mental health support and prevention actions, while simultaneously supporting local businesses.
The tickets are priced at a symbolic €1, providing the chance to win prizes such as five gift vouchers worth €250 and six special bundles valued at over €170 each. The draw will take place on 4 November, although organisers emphasise that the most important aspect is not the prize but each person’s contribution to a cause that benefits the entire community.
Commitment to Mental Health
Ana Trujillo, president of Asomasamen, highlighted that mental health is a collective responsibility. She reminded everyone that the association not only supports those facing difficulties but also works on prevention in schools. “We need everyone’s support to continue our work and provide what society fundamentally needs, which is support during the most challenging times,” she stressed.
Human Commitment in Local Commerce
Daniela Plotegher, president of the Puerto del Rosario Business Association, underscored the human commitment behind local commerce: “Local business is not just about trade; it also embodies a human and supportive aspect for campaigns like this,” expressing gratitude for the engagement of participating establishments, the media, and the local council.
The city’s mayor, David de Vera, praised the initiative, emphasising its role in reinforcing small businesses not only as economic engines but also as crucial elements for social support. Meanwhile, Víctor Alonso, the social action councillor of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, described Asomasamen as a key reference in the insular institution’s approach to mental health. “The people of Majorera have always been supportive, and this raffle provides an opportunity to demonstrate that once again,” he noted.
