The Town Hall of Antigua, through the Sports Department, is organising the IX Antigua Xtreme Race as part of the patron festivities. This event offers a challenging and enjoyable experience for all participants, who, after overcoming more than 30 obstacles on the course, arrive at the finish line muddy, exhausted, yet surprisingly happy. They will head straight to the showers provided and enjoy a nutritious snack for these remarkable athletes, stated Mayor Matías Peña García. Registration is free for the IX Antigua Xtreme Race, which will start on Saturday, 30th August at 10:30 AM in the Plaza de Antigua. 30 obstacles await participants in the IX Antigua Xtreme Race on 30th August.
Registrations can be made on the website www.atletismomajorero.es/antigua-xtreme, with the necessary collaboration from the Insular Athletics Federation of Fuerteventura, who will officiate the race, timing, and final results, alongside support from the Cabildo of Fuerteventura. Registrations for athletes aged 15 and over will close upon reaching 150 participants.
This 5-kilometre race features asphalt, dirt paths, slopes, rocky ravines, and a mud pool, interrupted frequently by over 30 obstacles ranging from lifting heavy sacks to climbing pulleys, crawling beneath nets in puddles, and descending rapidly down water slides. The IX Antigua Xtreme is presented as a challenging race, where athletes push themselves to the limit while having a fantastic time, remarked Sports Councillor Samuel Torres Mesa.
