TEA Museum Screens ‘The Perfect Recipe’, César Award Winner for Best Debut Feature

Louise Courvoisier’s comedy intelligently captures the familial and emotional ties of characters eager for adventure

The TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes is screening The Perfect Recipe this week, a heartfelt comedy by Louise Courvoisier that insightfully portrays the familial and emotional bonds of colourful characters hungry for adventure. Set in the rural France, this nuanced naturalistic film has received significant accolades, including Best Debut Feature and Best Promising Actress at the César Awards, as well as the Youth Award at the Cannes Film Festival and the Punto de Encuentro Award and Audience Award at the Seminci in Valladolid. The Perfect Recipe will be screened from tomorrow (Friday 22) until Sunday (24) at 19:00 local time, in its original French version with Spanish subtitles.

Starring Clément Faveau, Mathis Bertrand, Luna Garret, Dimitry Baudry, Maïwène Barthelemy, and Armand Sancey Richard, this film tells the story of Totone, an 18-year-old who spends most of his time drinking beer and partying in the Jura region with his friends. However, reality catches up with him: he must care for his seven-year-old sister and fend for himself. Determined, he sets out to make the best Comté cheese in the region, which could win him a gold medal at the agricultural competition along with a prize of 30,000 euros.

Born in 1994, Louise Courvoisier grew up in the Jura region before studying film at the Cinéfabrique in Lyon. Her graduation short film, Hand in Hand, won the top prize at the Cinéfondation at Cannes in 2019. The Perfect Recipe is set in the village of her childhood.
