The Canary Islands will experience a mix of light rain, rising temperatures, and haze this Friday, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The forecast indicates unsettled skies across much of the archipelago, with the latter part of the day showing the highest chance of showers.
Rain, Heat, and Calima
Light drizzle or occasional rain is expected, particularly in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and the southern slopes of the larger islands, although accumulations will be minimal. At the same time, temperatures will continue to rise, especially in the midlands and highland areas, where highs of 32–34 ºC are anticipated.

A light calima will also make its presence felt, gradually intensifying throughout the day, particularly in southern-facing mid-altitudes. Winds will predominantly blow from the northeast, light to moderate in strength, with breezes anticipated along the southwest coasts. In the mountains, winds will shift to the south and southwest at higher elevations.
Rough Seas
At sea, conditions remain unsettled. Northeasterly winds of force 4 or 5 are expected along the southeast and west coasts, with isolated areas possibly reaching force 6. Heavy swells will persist, locally strong until nightfall, while northeast waves could reach heights between one and two metres.
Island Forecasts

- Lanzarote and Fuerteventura: Medium and high cloud intervals, with possible drizzle in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures will exceed 30–32 ºC on the southeast coasts.
- Gran Canaria: Increasing cloud cover and haze throughout the day. Highs will surpass 32 ºC in the southern and western midlands, with some locations possibly reaching 34 ºC.
- Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro: Intervals of cloud and haze, with light drizzle possible in the afternoon. Temperatures will remain high, locally exceeding 30 ºC in southern and western mid-altitudes.
Friday will be characterised by contrasting conditions across the Canary Islands: pockets of drizzle, increasing haze, and sustained heat, particularly inland. Coastal areas will also need to deal with gusty winds and rough seas, making caution advisable for both residents and visitors.
