Over 300 Young People Participate in the II Insular Youth Meeting in Tinajo
On Thursday, 21st August, the Cabildo of Lanzarote hosted the II Insular Youth Meeting, which brought together over 300 young people from Lanzarote and La Graciosa at the Plaza de San Roque in Tinajo. This initiative was part of the celebrations for the International Youth Day, which took place on 12th August.
A Participative Day with Great Atmosphere
The inaugural event was attended by Aroa Revelo, the Councillor for Youth at the Cabildo, along with Daniel Morales, the General Director of Youth for the Government of the Canary Islands, Jesús Machín Tavío, the Councillor for Culture, and Jesús Machín, the Mayor of Tinajo, as well as other local and island authorities.
The programme included workshops, games, talks, musical performances, and a participatory atmosphere that gathered youth associations from across the island. The event concluded with a concert by singer Juseph, marking the end of a festive day.
Active and Present Youth
Councillor Aroa Revelo emphasised that “Tinajo is a leading town in terms of youth policies. The involvement, creativity, and eagerness to participate among the island’s youth are the best guarantee that we have a committed generation with much to offer.”
She also thanked the young people of Tinajo for their involvement in the organisation and highlighted that “they are not the future; they are the present.”
Island-Wide Participation
The event was organised in collaboration with various youth associations, offering all activities free of charge and providing transport and food to ensure the participation of young people from all seven municipalities of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
With this second edition, the Insular Youth Meeting establishes itself as an essential event for the island’s youth.
