Chains and Barriers to Protect Natural Spaces

Tenerife Council is collaborating with La Laguna Town Hall to control access to the El Púlpito area, La Atalaya, and its surroundings, with the aim of preserving these natural spaces. The Councillor for Natural Environment, Sustainability, and Safety and Emergencies, Blanca Pérez; the island director of Natural Environment, Pedro Millán; the Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Municipal Services and Citizen Participation, Fran Hernández; and the Councillor for the Environment, Domingo Galván, visited the area today (Thursday 21) alongside technicians from both administrations to oversee the work, which includes installing chains and barriers.

Blanca Pérez stated, “This collaboration is being carried out at the request of La Laguna Town Hall to control access to areas that lead to natural spaces. The goal is to preserve the environmental values of these important areas in La Laguna.”

Fran Hernández added, “Residents have informed us that these areas are being used by motor vehicles, which not only deteriorates the space but also poses a risk to the safety of those who traverse them. We appreciate the support from the Council to improve management in these areas.” The initiative involves an investment of approximately €10,000, funded by the insular corporation.

Tenerife Council and La Laguna Town Hall are calling on citizens to use natural spaces responsibly, respecting environmental values and avoiding actions and behaviours that could endanger individuals or damage local flora and fauna.
