Arrecife City Council Finalises Key Contracts for Urban Improvement
The Procurement Area of Arrecife City Council, led by Deputy Mayor Echedey Eugenio, has completed the awarding of four strategic contracts aimed at optimising public services, enhancing road safety, and modernising the city’s infrastructure, with a total investment of €2,807,247.62.
Key Contracts Awarded
These contracts include the extension of the San Román cemetery, maintenance works for school walls and roofs, and the approval of contracts for road signage and the provision of three vehicles for municipal services.
“We are following a very clear roadmap: to invest where it is most needed and expedite contracting to ensure improvements reach citizens as soon as possible,” Echedey Eugenio stated in a press release. He emphasised that “we are turning municipal resources into tangible investments that result in better services, more modern infrastructure, and increased safety for everyone.”
Significant Cemetery Extension
One of the most significant projects is the awarded contract for the extension of the San Román Cemetery, entrusted to Hormiconsa Canarias, SA, with a budget of €1,908,847.62 (including IGIC) and a completion period of eight months. This project includes a five-year guarantee that ensures the quality and durability of the works. “This has been a long-standing demand from many citizens of Arrecife, and with this work, we are providing a dignified and sufficient space for families,” the councillor stressed.
Investment in Education
In the educational sector, maintenance for schools has been awarded in two complementary batches to the UTE Capross 2004–Activa Lanzarote. Batch 4 (Walls) has a maximum authorised expenditure of €400,000.00 (including IGIC), while Batch 5 (Roofs) amounts to a total of €200,000.00 (including IGIC). In total, investment in these batches amounts to €600,000.00. “We want safer, healthier, and well-maintained schools; therefore, we are addressing both walls and roofs, with a work plan that prioritises quick and effective attention,” Eugenio added.
Enhancing Mobility and Road Safety
Mobility and road safety are also strengthened through the contract for the maintenance, provision, and installation of road signage in Arrecife, with a budget of €170,000 (including IGIC) and a duration of one year, with possible extension. “Ensuring that the streets are correctly signposted is key for road safety and achieving orderly and efficient mobility in the city,” the councillor noted.
Modernising the Municipal Fleet
Finally, the modernisation of the municipal fleet is being propelled through the contract for the supply of three vehicles designated for the Public Works area, with a value of €128,400 (including IGIC). “Renewing the fleet is essential for municipal teams to respond more effectively and efficiently,” Eugenio highlighted.
With these four contract awards, Arrecife City Council reinforces its commitment to responsible management that is closely aligned with the real needs of the municipality. “These contracts translate into tangible works, real maintenance, and more resources. They are not mere announcements: they are firm decisions with budgetary backing,” concluded the Deputy Mayor.
