Joint Emergency Operation Rescues Disoriented Individual in Yaiza

An emergency joint operation successfully rescued a disoriented individual between Playa del Cochino and Las Malvas, in the municipality of Yaiza on Friday afternoon.

The alert was received around 18:30 by the Emergency Coordination and Security Centre (CECOES), which promptly activated the Lanzarote Fire Brigade and the Local Police of Yaiza. Two nearby municipal agents assisted the firefighters in the initial search efforts along the coast of El Golfo, a challenging area characterised by its volcanic terrain.

To widen the search area, the fire brigade deployed a drone which flew over the region until the arrival of the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) helicopter. Following a coordination of both aerial units, the decision was made to retrieve the drone to facilitate the helicopter’s manoeuvres, which ultimately managed to locate the individual and evacuate them to a safe location.
