More than 50 personnel, checks at the dock, traffic restrictions, and a medical post will ensure safety during the celebrations.
The Teguise City Council held the Security Board for the La Caleta de Famara 2025 festivities on Thursday, 21 August, chaired by Mayor Olivia Duque. The meeting included representatives from the areas of Security and Emergencies, Celebrations, Roads and Works, Local Police, Civil Guard, National Police, Canary Police, Traffic Civil Guard, Fire Brigade, Civil Protection, private security, Cleaning, and Classified Activities.
The aim of the meeting was to coordinate the security and emergency deployment for one of the most popular events in Lanzarote, which attracts thousands of attendees each year and marks the end of summer on the island.
“Our priority is for the La Caleta festivities to take place with the highest level of safety and peace of mind possible. To achieve this, we have activated a joint operation that reinforces all emergency services and access control,” emphasised Mayor Olivia Duque, who expressed her gratitude for the cooperation of all involved departments.
Local Police Councillor, Ginés González, detailed that the operation includes an increase in personnel over the weekend, support from the Canary Police, the establishment of a medical post, and a security filtering system at the dock and access road to Caleta de Famara, along with specific measures for parking areas.
Furthermore, the Councillor for Security and Emergencies, Eugenio Robayna, announced that over 50 personnel will be deployed in the village, with particular attention to access controls at the dock, the busiest area during the festivities, and at the entry and exit points for vehicles.
The La Caleta de Famara 2025 festivities will feature a wide-ranging programme of popular, religious, sporting, and cultural events, establishing itself as a festive hub and meeting point in Lanzarote.
