The Purchasing Area of the Arrecife City Council, led by Deputy Mayor Echedey Eugenio, has completed the awarding of four strategic contracts aimed at optimising public services, enhancing road safety, and modernising the city’s infrastructure, with a total investment of €2,807,247.62.

Key Contracts

The contracts awarded include the expansion of the San Román cemetery, the maintenance of schools through contracts for walls and roofs, and the approval of contracts for road signage as well as the supply of three vehicles for municipal services.

“We are following a very clear roadmap: investing where it is most needed and accelerating procurement so that improvements reach citizens as soon as possible,” emphasises Echedey Eugenio, who highlighted that “we are transforming municipal resources into tangible investments that result in better services, more modern infrastructure, and enhanced safety for everyone.”

San Román Cemetery Expansion

One of the most significant projects is the awarding of the expansion works for the San Román Cemetery, entrusted to Hormiconsa Canarias, SA, with a budget of €1,908,847.62 (including IGIC) and a timeframe of eight months for execution. The project includes a five-year guarantee to ensure the quality and durability of the works. “This is a longstanding demand from many citizens of Arrecife, and with this project, we are responding by creating a dignified and adequate space for families,” the councillor emphasises.

Educational Improvements

In the educational sector, the maintenance of schools has been awarded in two complementary lots to the joint venture Capross 2004–Activa Lanzarote. Lot 4 (Walls) has a maximum authorised expenditure of €400,000.00 (including IGIC), while Lot 5 (Roofs) totals €200,000.00 (including IGIC). Together, the investment for these lots amounts to €600,000.00. “We want safer, healthier, and better-maintained schools; thus, we are addressing both walls and roofs with a work plan that prioritises quick and effective attention,” adds Eugenio.

Enhancing Mobility and Safety

Mobility and road safety are also reinforced with the contract for the maintenance, supply, and installation of road signage in Arrecife, which has a budget of €170,000 (including IGIC) and a duration of one year, renewable. “Ensuring that the streets are properly signposted is key for road safety and fostering orderly and efficient mobility in the city,” the councillor adds.

Modernising Municipal Fleet

Lastly, the modernisation of the municipal fleet is being advanced through a contract for the supply of three vehicles for the Public Works area, valued at €128,400 (including IGIC). “Renewing the fleet is essential for municipal teams to respond more effectively and swiftly,” underscores Eugenio.

With these four contracts, the Arrecife City Council reaffirms its commitment to responsible management and responsiveness to the actual needs of the municipality. “These contracts translate into construction, real maintenance, and more resources. They are not mere announcements; they are firm decisions backed by budgetary provisions,” concludes the Deputy Mayor.
