The Antigua Town Council has successfully recruited agents from the Regional Police to immediately join efforts in surveillance and prevention throughout the municipality, with particular focus on the tourist area of Caleta de Fuste. This marks a significant enhancement of security in Caleta de Fuste, supported by the Canary Islands Police.
This decision follows actions taken by the Mayor, Matías Peña, who directly communicated with the President of the Canary Islands Government, Fernando Clavijo, regarding the urgent need for increased personnel in the region. The official confirmation was announced on Friday by the Director General of Security, David del Pino.
The new officers will work in coordination with the Local Police of Antigua, enhancing patrols, shifts, and services in areas identified as most sensitive. The aim is to increase police presence to ensure a safer environment for both residents and visitors.
The Mayor has expressed his appreciation for the swift response from the Canary Government and emphasised the importance of inter-administrative cooperation in addressing demands for public safety. This initiative enhances security in Caleta de Fuste with the backing of the Canary Islands Police.
