A significant scare unfolded on Saturday morning on León y Castillo Street, near number 53, in the heart of Arrecife. A large stone fell from the façade of an old, abandoned terraced house, landing directly on the pavement and posing an evident danger to passers-by.

According to the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, the alert was received via the Coordinating Centre for Emergencies and Security (CECOES) 1-1-2. The communication indicated that a block of stone had fallen from the dilapidated building, prompting the rapid activation of intervention resources.
At the time of the incident, a woman walking on the pavement narrowly escaped being struck by the stone. Fortunately, no injuries were reported; however, the incident left a palpable sense of alarm among those present in the area, which was quite busy at that time of the morning.
Members of the Consortium arrived in vehicles Bravo 5 and Eco 3. Upon their arrival, firefighters confirmed that the house, roofless and in a state of abandonment, posed an obvious risk of further debris falling onto the public road. Consequently, barriers were erected to secure the area and ensure pedestrian safety.
Local police officers from Arrecife joined the operation, assisting in the delimitation and securing of the affected perimeter. This joint action helped restore calm to the area, although it has been advised to exercise increased caution until definitive measures are implemented regarding the façade.
