The Canary Islands Housing Institute (ICAVI), under the direction of Antonio Ortega, has formalised the transfer of use for premises 1 and 2 of block 31, located in the 661 Housing Group Miramar, within the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, to the Federation of Deaf Associations of the Canary Islands (FASICAN).
The premises, situated at 4-6 Ernesto Anastasio Street, have a built area of 374.96 square metres. The transfer was formalised through a resolution from the Institute’s Directorate dated 28 March 2019, and has been successively renewed until the complete refurbishment of the facilities was achieved.
Thanks to this agreement, FASICAN now has a fully operational headquarters from which it provides various services aimed at improving the quality of life for deaf individuals in the Canary Islands.
Main Objectives of the Facilities
Among the primary objectives of these facilities are:
- Social support, providing information, guidance, advice, and professional intervention for deaf individuals and their families;
- Interpretation services in Spanish Sign Language (LSE), applicable across various fields and topics throughout the archipelago;
- Training, through the organisation of open courses in Spanish Sign Language for anyone interested in learning to communicate using this language.
