The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has good news for the Canary Islands this Monday: the likelihood of rain is very low, and skies will clear in many areas throughout the day. However, caution is still recommended due to strong winds and rough seas around the archipelago.

General Forecast

According to AEMET, cloudy skies will dominate the northern regions of the islands in the morning, with clearer conditions expected from midday onwards. The rest of the islands will mostly enjoy sunshine, although there is a slight chance of light and scattered showers in the late afternoon.

Temperatures are set to decrease slightly in many areas, particularly in the midlands and highlands, while coastal zones will remain more stable. Maximum temperatures are expected to be between 25–30 ºC, with cooler values inland.

Winds will blow moderately from the north to northeast, with stronger gusts anticipated on the southeast and northwest coasts. In contrast, gentle breezes will prevail on the southwest coasts of the mountainous islands.

Sea Conditions

The sea remains a primary area of concern. Northeast winds of force 4–5 are expected, rising to force 6 in some eastern and western sections, particularly around Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and the mountainous islands.
Swell conditions will be heavy to very heavy, producing waves up to one metre high. Authorities are advising caution for sailors, fishermen, and coastal visitors.

Island Forecasts

Lanzarote

Expect cloudy intervals in the north during the morning, with clearer skies by midday. Cloud cover may return later in the day, along with a low chance of drizzle. Elsewhere, skies will mostly be clear. Temperatures will remain steady or drop slightly. Moderate north winds may produce strong gusts in inland southern areas.

Fuerteventura

Cloudy intervals are expected early on, but conditions will be mostly clear from midday onwards. Some cloudiness may return in the north during the afternoon and evening, with a small chance of drizzle. Maximum temperatures may drop slightly inland. Moderate north winds are anticipated, with strong gusts possible in Jandía, particularly in the afternoon.

Gran Canaria

The north will be cloudy below 1,000–1,100 m during the morning, clearing around midday. Clouds will return in the evening with a slight chance of drizzle in the midlands. Elsewhere, expect partly cloudy skies with high clouds. Temperatures will remain stable on the coast but decrease inland and at higher altitudes. Moderate trade winds will be accompanied by strong gusts on the southeast and western slopes, with gentle breezes on the southwest coast.

Tenerife

Cloud cover will dominate northern areas below 1,100–1,200 m in the morning, clearing significantly by midday. Expect clouds to return in the afternoon, with a chance of drizzle in the northeast midlands. Other areas will experience partly cloudy skies with some high clouds. Coastal temperatures will remain consistent, except for a slight increase on the east side, while inland regions will cool down. Winds will be moderate from the northeast, with strong gusts in the southeast and northwest, while breezes will prevail on the west coast. At higher altitudes, winds will shift to the northwest and intensify later in the day.

La Gomera

Expect cloudy conditions in the north during the morning, clearing with sunshine by midday. Clouds may return in the evening, bringing a chance of drizzle in the midlands. Elsewhere, conditions will be partly cloudy with high clouds. Coastal temperatures will remain stable, while inland regions will see a decrease. Moderate northeasterly trade winds may become strong in the southeast, northwest, and at the peaks by late afternoon, with breezes on the southwest coast.

La Palma

Cloudy conditions are expected in the north and east below 1,200–1,300 m during the morning, clearing by midday. Clouds will return later in the day, with a small chance of drizzle in the northeast midlands. Other areas will be partly cloudy. Coastal temperatures will remain stable, but will decrease in midland and highland areas. Moderate trade winds may produce strong gusts in the southeast and northwest, with breezes on the west coast.

El Hierro

The northern skies will be cloudy initially, clearing significantly by midday. In the evening, cloud cover will return with a chance of drizzle in the northeast midlands. Coastal temperatures will remain steady, while slight to moderate decreases are expected inland. Moderate trade winds will be stronger on the southeast and northwest slopes, with breezes in the southwest.

Although the risk of rain is minimal, the Canary Islands still face gusty winds and challenging sea conditions. Residents and visitors are advised to take caution near coastal areas and during maritime activities, even as sunnier skies return across much of the archipelago.
