
Yesterday, the city of Arrecife celebrated a vibrant and summery Saturday with the Fiesta de La Chola, organised by the Arrecife City Council as part of the San Ginés patronal festivities. This event brought joy to hundreds of families at Parque Islas Canarias in the capital of Lanzarote.
Event Organisers and Atmosphere
Under the direct organisation of the Tourism and Commerce Councils, as well as the Events and Activities Councils of the Arrecife City Council, led by Councillors Eli Merino and Óscar López, the Parque Islas Canarias hosted almost 12 hours of continuous musical performances and summer fun. Families enjoyed a lively atmosphere filled with entertainment.

Mayor Yonathan de León, along with Councillor Eli Merino and Councillor Óscar López, were present at Parque Islas Canarias, where the spirit of fun and joy prevailed during this latest edition of the Fiesta de La Chola. The City Council, under Mayor de León’s leadership, aimed to ensure that families in the region had opportunities to enjoy themselves and dance in a summery environment, complete with splash zones and inflatable attractions for the children.
Measures for Visitor Comfort
In response to the high temperatures recorded yesterday, the Arrecife City Council installed shaded areas within Parque Islas Canarias, which also featured a system of misting and water sprinklers to keep visitors cool.
Musical Performances and Safety
During Saturday afternoon and evening, Parque Islas Canarias was the epicentre of fun and joy with the Fiesta de La Chola. Performers included Los 600, DJ Maxi, Aseres, the groups Extra and Bomba, and DeLorean. A comprehensive security operation ensured that the event ran smoothly.
Upcoming Events
The San Ginés festivities will continue on Monday, 25th September, which marks the feast day of San Ginés Obispo. The day will feature a traditional Eucharist and a procession with the image of the saint through the surrounding streets of the church. In the evening, a grand concert by Alejandro Fernández will take place, followed by a spectacular fireworks display at El Reducto beach.
