Socialist politician Andrés Stinga has resigned from his position as a councillor at the Lanzarote Cabildo, opting to focus on his career as a taxi driver. Stinga, who is a professional taxi driver, was recently elected president of the San Bartolomé taxi association, a role to which he wishes to dedicate his full attention.
Significant Contributions to Local Politics
Andrés Stinga is a close associate of María Dolores Corujo, the Secretary of the PSOE in Lanzarote. He played a pivotal role in helping her become the mayor of San Bartolomé and supported her during her tenure as president of the Cabildo in his capacity as councillor for the Presidency. Stinga was instrumental in steering San Bartolomé towards socialism, serving as the local secretary when he endorsed Marcial Martín’s campaign for the municipal mayoralty.
Possible Successors
Hugo Delgado, next on the socialist list, could succeed Stinga. However, if he cannot take on the role due to his position at the public body, Centros Turísticos del Cabildo de Lanzarote, Paula Corujo would then be in line for the appointment.
