The institution aims to gather opinions and priorities regarding the development of new sustainable aircraft technologies

El Parque Tecnológico de Fuerteventura SA, MP, in collaboration with Murzilli Consulting and DroneTalks, is launching an anonymous survey open to all residents and workers aged 14 and over on the island. The aim is to gather their opinions and priorities concerning the development of new sustainable aircraft technologies.

The consultation will be available online until the end of August 2025 and takes between eight and ten minutes to complete. Responses can be submitted via the following link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdnptxsRdtEVzNdBaYvb-Df2ctP1DCPnENUyzWSOHXCYaR1VA/viewform?fbclid=IwY2xjawMZCONleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETBXZ283b2VndlAzWWJqVk1uAR7ZKILrQdfcbZ18HgUJEYxKTYvpZzX1QNg_lg0P7sAQoh0kNjuSi3dC30ilPA_aem_d9eOlhccmnjklLFH9QBRgw

Citizen participation is crucial to ensure that these innovations meet the true needs of the island’s community, as emphasized by the organisations promoting this survey.

This initiative is funded under component 17 of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain, financed by Next Generation EU funds through the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, and Autonomous Funds (Budget of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, Cabildo of Fuerteventura, and the Canary Islands Development Fund – FDCAN).

Canarias Geo Innovation Program 2030

The Canarias Geo Innovation Program 2030, focused on its infrastructure Canarias Stratoport for HAPS & UAS, located between Puerto del Rosario and Tetir, explores the operations of unmanned aircraft and low-noise drones. It prioritises the use of sustainable technologies, including platforms powered by electric motors, some of which are solar-powered, capable of remaining airborne for days. These technologies are designed to enhance daily life, safeguard the environment, and bolster security on the island.

Potential applications include monitoring wildfires and improving emergency responses, as well as urgent delivery of medical supplies, for instance, in cases where roads are blocked.

These aircraft could also strengthen telecommunications and internet coverage in remote areas, facilitate the transport of equipment to isolated communities, and ensure reliable deliveries to hard-to-reach homes. The promoting organisations stress that listening to the public is essential for the project’s success. Every response in the survey contributes to designing a more connected, secure, and sustainable Fuerteventura. Residents are encouraged to share the initiative with family, friends, and neighbours.
