The PSOE party in Tinajo has called for the immediate establishment of a public nursery school in the municipality, following the announcement of the closure of the only existing private early childhood education centre on 31 August.
The centre has been forced to shut down without any alternative being offered by the Town Hall, leaving families in a state of complete helplessness and without resources to balance family and work life.
Political Response
Socialist spokesperson Begoña Hernández has been firm in her criticism of the mayor, stating: “Jesús Machín has abandoned the families of Tinajo. We are talking about an essential resource that allows parents to juggle their responsibilities and ensures that young children have access to quality early education. They have known about this for months and have done nothing.”
Hernández reminded that back in 2019, the PSOE of Tinajo called on the nationalist governing group to establish a public nursery school. “Five years later, not only have they made no progress, but now we find ourselves with no options at all,” she lamented.
A Lack of Early Childhood Education Resources
The socialists warn that starting in September, many families in Tinajo and nearby municipalities will be forced to travel due to the inability to balance family and work life, “because the municipality of Tinajo does not offer this essential resource.”
Call to Action
Consequently, they demand that the mayor take immediate action to initiate the procedures for establishing a public nursery school in the municipality: “This is not a matter of will, but a matter of rights. Tinajo cannot lag behind in essential public services. Machín must stop thinking about headlines and start governing for the people,” concluded Hernández.
