The General Directorate of Blood Donation and Haemotherapy of the Canarian Health Service (SCS) has established a mobile blood donation unit in the municipality of Puerto de la Cruz, operational from today until Thursday, 28th August.
The extraction team will be located at Plaza del Charco, functioning from 10:15 to 13:30 and from 17:15 to 20:15 hours.
The SCS reminds the public of the importance of regular blood donations, as this act helps to ensure optimal reserves and guarantees supply to hospitals.
Permanent Blood Donation Points in Tenerife
Additionally, individuals may donate at the permanent blood donation point in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, located at Méndez Núñez, number 14, Monday to Friday from 09:15 to 20:30 hours.
There is also a fixed donation point at the San Isidro Health Centre in Granadilla de Abona, on Arguayoda Street, number 2, open Monday to Friday from 10:15 to 13:30 and from 16:15 to 19:30 hours. This site has reserved parking for donors, and inquiries can be made via telephone at 677980518, except on public holidays.
Regarding points within the Canarian Transfusion Network, donations can be made at the University Hospital of the Canaries, located on the C-822 main road, La Cuesta-Taco, ground floor next to the lifts, without an appointment from Sunday to Friday and on public holidays from 08:30 to 21:30, and on Saturdays from 08:30 to 14:30 and from 15:30 to 20:00 hours. At the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, located on the Rosario road (no number), Ground Floor – Central Block, donations can be made Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 20:00 and on Saturdays from 09:00 to 13:00 hours, without an appointment except on public holidays. Furthermore, donations can also be made at Hospiten Bellevue, located at Germany Street, number 6, in Puerto de la Cruz, by appointment via 922 385 235 (option 1), Monday to Friday from 11:00 to 14:30 hours (except public holidays).
Requirements to Donate
To be a donor, certain essential requirements must be met. Individuals must be between eighteen and 65 years old (up to seventy if it is their first donation), weigh more than fifty kilos, be in good general health, and not be pregnant.
