Local Commerce Boost in La Laguna

The La Laguna Town Hall, through its Commerce Department, in collaboration with the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (Fauca) and the La Laguna Commercial Zone (LLZC), is launching a new edition of the Local Commerce Promotion Vouchers. These will be available for purchase starting next Tuesday, 2nd September, from 12:00 PM. The vouchers can be used until 30th September at any of the 326 participating shops, hospitality businesses, and services throughout the municipality.

Individuals can purchase up to five vouchers, paying just ten euros each. However, the purchasing value at participating establishments will be twenty euros per voucher, providing a direct subsidy of 50%.

Support for Local Businesses

This information was shared yesterday at a press conference by the Councillor for Commerce, Estefanía Díaz, and the president of Fauca, Abbas Moujir. “The campaign is focused on September as it is a key month for families due to back-to-school expenses, and it also allows businesses to prepare for the Christmas campaign and the White Night, avoiding overlaps,” explained the councillor.

She also emphasised that this is a campaign to support small businesses. “It is vital to shop locally throughout the year because purchasing in our towns and neighbourhoods means keeping them alive, preserving jobs, and strengthening a sustainable, local economy.” The initiative, which this year carries the motto “You Are Local Commerce”, will inject one million euros into the local commercial fabric, with a 500,000 euro investment from the La Laguna Town Hall.

Encouraging Activity

In this context, Abbas Moujir added that this campaign, now in its fourth edition, “aims to further support local commerce to keep its activities going and its doors open to the public.” He expressed hope that it would provide assistance “not just for businesses but also for families, during a month that includes extra expenses for back-to-school.”

The Local Commerce Vouchers will be available from 2nd September until stocks last, via the website www.bonocomerciolalaguna.com, with a maximum of five per person. They will remain valid until 30th September.
