The Festival Department of the La Laguna City Council has commenced this week the setup of the main stage for the Fiestas del Santísimo Cristo de La Laguna 2025, which will take place in the city from 4th to 21st September.

The works are at an advanced stage and are expected to be completed in the coming days, just in time for the festivities, which will begin on Thursday with the reading of the traditional opening speech.

Improvements to Infrastructure

The Mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, explained that “this year we aimed to enhance the features of this infrastructure, which will measure 30 metres in length and 12 metres in height, creating more space in the main stage area and improving visibility for everyone in the square with the installation of two large high-definition side screens.”

New Aesthetic for Food Stalls

Meanwhile, the councillor for the area, Dailos González, highlighted that one of the main innovations this year relates to the aesthetics of the food stalls and other product booths that will be located in the venue. “For the first time, we wanted to unify the design of these installations with wooden cabins that reduce the weight compared to the usual kiosks and distribute the load more effectively across this iconic site in La Laguna,” added the councillor.

Technical Support and Events

Once the setup is completed, the main stage and the control tower will feature the official poster of the festival, designed this year by local artist Nareme Melián. As usual, there will be extensive technical support for sound and lighting to ensure the successful execution of the diverse agenda of popular and cultural events.

The stage will host traditional events such as the Noche del Humor, the Festival de Mayores, the Verbena Inclusiva, the Festival Sabandeño, as well as various concerts, including performances by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, José Vélez, and Love of Lesbian, among others.

Consideration for Residents

Councillor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez emphasised that “this year we have made special efforts to consider the rest of the local residents, minimising any disruptions caused by the event programming while ensuring that the rest of the community can enjoy these much-anticipated festivities.”
