The Councillor for Housing in the Arrecife City Council, Rosmen Quevedo, has announced that the new regulatory ordinance for rental assistance for permanent housing, approved by the Corporation during a session on 22 August, has been published today, Friday 29 August, in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Las Palmas. This publication officially opens the public consultation period, a necessary step before the call for these subsidies.
Updated Regulations
Quevedo emphasises that these regulations have been updated to better address the social needs of families and individuals residing in the municipality. The ordinance stipulates that those who can apply for assistance must be registered in Arrecife for at least one year, whether they rent an entire property or share a room within a dwelling.
A Response to Housing Concerns
“Access to housing is one of the greatest concerns of our citizens, and we want to provide an effective response that reflects the current reality. With this ordinance, we ensure a stable framework that will enable more families, large families, and individuals living alone to receive financial support to cope with rent,” stated the councillor.
Aiming for Inclusivity
The councillor further noted that the aim of this legislation is “to ensure that no one in Arrecife is left behind due to an inability to pay their rent. Today we are taking a firm step forward so that more residents of Arrecife can access decent housing.”
The full text of the ordinance can be consulted from today on the electronic portal of the Arrecife City Council. Once the public consultation period concludes, the official call for applications will be opened.
