Canary Islands airports anticipate 1,281 flights this Saturday, the last day of August, 41 more than in 2024

The airports in the Canary Islands are scheduled to handle 1,281 flights this Saturday, August 30, which is 41 more than the same day last year, according to data provided by the airport manager to Europa Press.

Meanwhile, Aena’s network in the islands has programmed a total of 3,757 flights between this Friday, August 29, and Sunday, August 31, coinciding with the operation to return from August holidays. This marks an increase of 134 flights compared to the same dates in 2024, when 3,623 movements were recorded.

Activity by Airport

Gran Canaria Airport will see the highest activity, with 1,053 flights (9 more than the previous year), followed by Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna with 698 flights (+13) and Tenerife South with 638 flights (-7).

Next is Lanzarote Airport with 620 flights (+3), Fuerteventura with 456 flights (+37), La Palma with 204 flights (+77), El Hierro with 64 flights (+2), and La Gomera with 24 flights (no change).

Flight Schedule Overview

For Friday, August 29, there will be 1,229 flights (+15 compared to Friday, August 30, 2024), Saturday will have 1,281 flights (+41), and Sunday will have 1,247 flights (+78).

In Spain as a whole, Aena has scheduled 21,327 flights between August 29 and September 1, marking an increase of 0.3% from the same dates in 2024, when 21,269 movements were reported.

Major Airports’ Operations

Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport will handle the highest volume of operations, with 3,497 flights forecasted, a slight increase from 3,455 last year. The busiest day will be this Friday, with a total of 1,203 flights expected.

Following closely is Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, with 3,141 scheduled flights, up from 3,042 in 2024, and Palma de Mallorca Airport, which will reach 3,071 operations, slightly down from 3,113 the previous year.

Meanwhile, Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport will operate 1,779 flights, an increase from 1,734 a year ago, while Ibiza anticipates 1,256 operations, in line with the 1,248 recorded in 2024.

Flight Operations Summary

Overall, Sunday, August 31, is expected to be the busiest day, with 7,147 operations planned, followed by Saturday, August 30, with 7,141 scheduled flights. For tomorrow, Friday, there are 7,039 flights planned at Spanish airports operated by Aena.
