Lanzarote Experiences Strong Winds

Lanzarote has recorded maximum gusts of up to 70 kilometres per hour in the early hours of Sunday, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

Specifically, the Aemet station at Lanzarote Airport, located in San Bartolomé, reached a peak gust of 68 kilometres per hour at 10:00 am on 31 August. Meanwhile, the average wind speed remained below 50 kilometres during the last hours of Saturday and into the early hours of Sunday.

The strong winds were also felt in the municipality of Tías, where the Aemet station registered a maximum gust of 64 kilometres per hour on Saturday afternoon. The average wind speed in this area also stayed below 50 kilometres per hour.

Forecast for Monday, 1 September

The State Meteorological Agency forecasts cloudy intervals for Monday, transitioning to partly cloudy skies in the morning, with predominantly overcast conditions in the north, especially in the early morning and late evening. There is a low probability of light, scattered rain during the early hours.

Regarding the wind, the agency indicates that trade winds will continue, with periods of strong gusts. Temperature fluctuations are expected to be minimal.
