Waves of up to three metres expected in the north and west of the island
The Government of the Canary Islands, through its Directorate General for Emergencies, has declared a state of pre-alert for coastal phenomena in the archipelago, effective from 07:00 this Tuesday morning.
This decision is based on information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, in accordance with the Emergency Specific Plan for Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).
Geographical Scope:
The north and east coasts of El Hierro and La Gomera; the northwest and northeast coasts of La Palma; the north and southeast coasts of Tenerife; the coastline of Gran Canaria (excluding the municipalities of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and Mogán); as well as the coasts of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
Observations:
Forecasts indicate poor sea conditions, with wave heights of 2–3.5 metres. There will be rough seas with strong swells and a northwesterly ground swell of 2–3 metres.
Residents are urged to follow the self-protection advice issued by the Directorate General for Emergencies.
