Unemployment Figures in Fuerteventura: A Positive Outlook
The unemployment data in Fuerteventura continues to inspire confidence in the island’s labour market. This August, there are 133 fewer individuals on the unemployment register, marking a decrease of 2.3% compared to last month.
This positive trend is further evidenced by the year-on-year improvement, showing a 6.3% decline, which equates to 380 people who have exited the unemployment figures.
Currently, there are 5,612 unemployed individuals on the island, with the situation nearing levels seen before 2008. Presently, the lack of available workforce is a greater concern than unemployment itself.
Unemployment Breakdown by Gender and Age
The unemployment figures reveal that there are 2,395 men and 3,217 women without jobs. The highest demand for employment is among those aged 45 and over, accounting for 3,189 individuals.
Educational Background of the Unemployed
In terms of education, nearly 60% have completed primary education or less. Furthermore, 28.3% of the unemployed hold secondary education, 7.3% possess higher education qualifications, and 4.61% have vocational training.
