The Mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, along with the Councillor for Festivals, Javier Caraballero, welcomed a delegation from Las Celias de Tenerife at the Town Hall to commemorate their upcoming 30th anniversary in 2026.
During the visit, the group revealed their best-kept secret to the municipal authorities: the design of the new costumes they will showcase at the Carnival, debuting at the Cabalgata Anunciadora.
The Mayor emphasised the significance of the group, stating, “Las Celias are a symbol of our Carnival because their trajectory and continuous renewal serve as an example for all, and it is an honour for us to celebrate this 30th anniversary with them.”
Bermúdez also expressed gratitude to the group for their dedication and commitment to the festivities, noting that “Las Celias are a distinctive group that has become an essential part of the spirit and essence of our Carnival thanks to their 30 years of history.”
The Councillor for Festivals, Javier Caraballero, highlighted that the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Town Council is working to increase the financial allocation for Carnival groups in the upcoming municipal budget.
“Although we have already raised that allocation by 15% over the last two years, we are committed to continuing our support for our groups so they can keep growing and making history in the Carnival, and our commitment extends to Las Celias,” stated the Councillor for Festivals.
For their part, representatives of Las Celias de Tenerife expressed their gratitude for the ongoing support from the Mayor and the Town Hall, emphasising the close relationship they maintain with the institution to continue bringing the magic and tradition of Carnival to every corner of the city.
