UD Lanzarote made their return to the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote this Sunday, kicking off the season with a match against CD Tenerife “C”. The team had to display patience to secure the three points at stake. The Tenerife side initially took the lead in the first half, but goals from Adrián Machín and Raúl in the second half turned the game in Lanzarote’s favour.
From the outset, as described by the club in a press release, UD Lanzarote established control over the match and began creating goal-scoring opportunities. The clearest chance came in the 10th minute when a through ball allowed Nadjib to penetrate the area, pulling back for Adrián Machín, whose shot was saved low by the goalkeeper. After half an hour, CD Tenerife “C” took the lead through Guille.
The second half began with another chance for UD Lanzarote, when Nadjib’s shot from the edge of the area struck the crossbar. The red-and-white team had to remain patient, observing as the rival players took time with every action, causing the game to lose its rhythm.
The reward for their persistence arrived in the 78th minute. A precise cross from Lisandro on the left was headed in by Adrián Machín, beating Omar. Just two minutes later, Mario Román headed a cross from the right, a defender cleared off the line, and Raúl seized on the rebound to score the second.
The referee added nine minutes to the second half due to the numerous time-wasting incidents, during which UD Lanzarote prevented the opposition from creating any further danger. The red-and-whites secured their first victory of the season upon returning to the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote.
