Tragic Drowning Incident in Taliarte Claims Elderly Man’s Life

A 73-year-old man has tragically died this Tuesday afternoon on the coast of Taliarte, Telde (Gran Canaria), after being rescued from the water by beachgoers, as reported by 1-1-2 Canarias.

The incident occurred shortly after 5:30 PM when the Emergency Coordination Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2 received an alert from witnesses who had pulled the man from the sea while he was in cardiac arrest and were attempting resuscitation.

A lifeguard from the Beach Rescue Service provided further assistance to the victim.

Response by Emergency Services

Upon arrival, SUC personnel confirmed that the man remained in cardiac arrest and continued advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation efforts, unfortunately without success, and confirmed his passing.

Local police and firefighters collaborated with other emergency resources on the scene. The National Police are conducting the necessary investigations.
