The municipal initiative has successfully redeemed over €680,000 in participating establishments, with 114 locations having reached their limits.
The La Laguna City Council, through its Trade Department, has reviewed the first week of the Local Commerce Promotion Voucher campaign, which commenced on 2nd September. The aim of this initiative is to stimulate consumption and strengthen the commercial fabric of the municipality.
In just seven days, 42,228 vouchers have been sold, representing 84.46% of the total available. Currently, 7,772 vouchers remain for sale. In financial terms, establishments have redeemed €682,731.32, which accounts for 80.84% of the total sold thus far.
Estefanía Díaz, the Councilor for Trade, highlighted that these figures reflect “the positive reception from the public, who are actively responding to this campaign, demonstrating a commitment to our local commerce.” She reiterated that “it is crucial to continue supporting the sector, ensuring that businesses receive real assistance and encouraging people to shop at our local establishments, as each purchase represents employment, effort, and life in our neighbourhoods and towns.”
Abbas Moujir, president of the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (FAUCA), emphasized that “the Commerce Vouchers have proven to be an effective tool, as they provide a direct liquidity boost to businesses, foster customer loyalty, and raise awareness among citizens about the importance of keeping local commerce alive.”
To date, 305 out of the 326 participating establishments have redeemed at least one voucher. Furthermore, 114 of these have reached the maximum limit of €3,500 (37.68%).
The campaign will remain active until 30th September or until stocks run out. Each individual can purchase up to five vouchers, valued at €20 each, paying only €10 per unit.
