Fuerteventura Council Approves Municipal Emergency Plans
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has given the go-ahead for the development of Municipal Emergency Plans (PEMU) for the municipalities of Antigua, Tuineje, and Betancuria. This was announced by the Councillor for Security and Emergencies, Lolina Negrín, during a working meeting with councillors José Cerdeña, David Hernández, and Fernando Estupiñán. The aim was to coordinate the details of implementing these plans.
Negrín emphasised that the PEMUs are essential tools for ensuring the protection of both residents and visitors by facilitating the organisation and mobilisation of resources in emergency situations. “Having these plans will allow municipalities to enhance coordination with other services and administrations, ensuring a quick and effective response to any eventuality,” she stated.
Objectives and Implementation
The purpose of these plans is to identify the main risks present in each locality, assess available resources, and define the mechanisms for joint action among the various agencies involved. The councillor highlighted the importance of holding regular meetings throughout the drafting process to bolster collaboration between administrations.
Contract Details
The contract, valued at nearly €40,000 and divided into three lots corresponding to each municipality, includes an initial deadline for delivery of six months. The final approval of the PEMU will depend on the endorsement of both the town councils and the Autonomous Civil Protection Commission.
