Teguise Commences €360,000 Renovation of Guatiza Children’s Park to Enhance Safety and Accessibility

The initiative, with an investment of €360,000, will provide the area with new play equipment, shaded areas, accessible surfacing, and health-oriented elements

The Teguise Town Council has commenced comprehensive renovation works on the children’s playground in the village of Guatiza, with an investment of €360,037, funded through the Lanzarote Cabildo’s Cooperation Plan.

The project includes the installation of new children’s play equipment, continuous flooring that complies with accessibility regulations, shaded areas, and a new section with health-oriented machines, thereby expanding the space’s use to individuals of all ages. Furthermore, the current gravel surface will be removed to enhance safety and comfort in the environment.

Teguise’s Mayor, Olivia Duque, has emphasised that the renewal of this park addresses a clear need expressed by the residents of Guatiza and is a priority for this government group. It is essential to continue investing in infrastructures that improve the quality of life in all the towns within the municipality.

This intervention forms part of a broader strategy to enhance public spaces aimed at children and families. In line with this, the renovation of the children’s playground in the historic centre of Villa de Teguise is also included, with a budget of €530,000. This project is currently in the public consultation phase and will move to the tender phase in the coming months.

The Councillor for Works, Eugenio Robayna, stated that the new park in the Villa is designed as an inclusive and safe space, with adapted elements, protective surfacing, and shaded areas to ensure the well-being of all users.

Both initiatives are part of the municipal plan for maintaining children’s parks, which guarantees the proper condition of the facilities while the planned structural improvements are being developed, always adhering to the roadmap aimed at providing quality, safe, and accessible spaces for the entire municipality.
