The Water Supply Consortium of Fuerteventura (CAAF), an entity under the Cabildo Insular de Fuerteventura, has achieved a score of 7.46 in the latest evaluation by the Transparency Commissioner of the Canary Islands for the period 2023-2024. This score marks a significant improvement compared to previous evaluations and positions the CAAF among the public entities in the Canaries with the best transparency indicators. The Transparency and Access to Public Information Commissioner of the Canary Islands periodically assesses the compliance of over 400 public entities in the Archipelago concerning active publicity obligations. The ITCanarias indicator measures the accessibility, currency, and quality of information published on transparency portals.

For the CAAF, the progress has been remarkable. After years of average scores and even a decline in the 2022 evaluation (0.21 points in the first half of 2023), the efforts of the technical and management team have resulted in a commendable score in this latest review, reflecting a firm commitment to the citizens.

The CEO of CAAF, Adargoma Hernández, emphasised the significance of this result. “This score is the outcome of collaborative work and our commitment to improving public information management. For us, transparency is not just a legal requirement, but an ethical duty towards the citizens of Fuerteventura. We want everyone to have clear, simple, and up-to-date access to how the consortium operates and how the island’s water resources are managed.”

Furthermore, Hernández highlighted the entity’s goal to consolidate these advances. “This result drives us to continue working with greater rigor. We are not content with just a commendable score: we aim to place CAAF among the leading public entities in transparency across the Canaries.”

Future Commitment

Additionally, CAAF will continue to strengthen its communication channels and access to information. This includes expanding the documentation available on its transparency portal and providing digital tools to enhance engagement with the public.

With this evaluation, CAAF demonstrates that transparency is a central axis of its management, reinforcing a lasting commitment to the residents of Fuerteventura.
