The ITCanarias indicator assesses the degree of accessibility, updating, and quality of information published on transparency portals.

The Consorcio de Abastecimiento de Aguas a Fuerteventura (CAAF), an entity under the Cabildo Insular de Fuerteventura, has achieved a score of 7.46 points in the latest evaluation by the Transparency Commissioner of the Canary Islands, covering the period 2023-2024. This score marks a qualitative leap compared to previous evaluations and positions the CAAF among the public entities in the Canary Islands with the best transparency indicators.

The Transparency and Access to Public Information Commissioner of the Canary Islands regularly analyses the compliance of over 400 public entities in the archipelago with active publicity obligations. The ITCanarias indicator measures the degree of accessibility, updating, and quality of information published on transparency portals.

In the case of CAAF, the evolution has been remarkable. After years of average ratings and even a decrease in the 2022 evaluation (0.21 points in the first half of 2023), the efforts of the technical and management team have allowed for a recent revision that achieved a notable rating, reflecting a strong commitment to the public.

The CAAF Managing Director, Adargoma Hernández, emphasised the significance of this result: “This score is the result of collective effort and a commitment to improving the management of public information. For us, transparency is not only a legal requirement but an ethical obligation to the citizens of Fuerteventura. We want everyone to have clear, simple, and up-to-date access to how the consortium operates and how the island’s water resources are managed.”

Hernández also highlighted the entity’s goal of consolidating these advancements: “This result motivates us to continue working with greater rigor. We are not satisfied with ‘notable’; we want to position the CAAF among the leading public entities in transparency across all of the Canary Islands.”

Future Commitment

The CAAF will continue to strengthen its communication channels and access to information, expanding the documentation available on its transparency portal and providing digital tools that enhance its relationship with citizens.

With this evaluation, the CAAF demonstrates that transparency is a central pillar of its management and a permanent commitment to the residents of Fuerteventura.
