Nuevas Generaciones of Lanzarote has presented a proposal to the Cabildo for the creation of a Youth Advisory Council. This council would represent young people from all municipalities in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, enabling them to voice their concerns on key issues such as housing, employment, mobility, education, and the environment.

The island president of NNGG, Ana Hernández, stated, “We want young people to be part of island planning. Lanzarote cannot design its future with its back to the youth, as we are the ones who will live it.”

Additionally, the organisation reiterates the need for an Island Youth Space, a venue where young people can access information, guidance, educational activities, and resources that will allow them to develop fully and actively participate in society.

“The Youth Council would be a fundamental step for our voices to reach institutions, but we also need a physical space that reflects this commitment to youth. We will continue to demand that space, as the young people of Lanzarote and La Graciosa deserve to be heard and considered,” Hernández added.

Nuevas Generaciones emphasises that these initiatives are not just symbolic gestures, but concrete tools to integrate the youth perspective into public policies and ensure that decisions affecting the island meet the needs of new generations.
