The Popular Party parliamentarian particularly valued the inclusion of measures such as the automatic recognition of certain degrees of disability, preventing unnecessary assessments; prioritised attention for children and adolescents, ensuring early support; the incorporation of social criteria, alongside medical ones, addressing the specific circumstances of each family environment; the automatic issuance of parking permits for individuals with reduced mobility; and essential interinstitutional coordination with Health, Education, local councils, and professional associations.
Importance of Effective Implementation
From Fuerteventura’s perspective, Saavedra underscored the need for the application of this decree to yield tangible results: “Our island cannot continue to suffer from structural delays. Families in Fuerteventura need guarantees that disability assessments will not be a journey filled with endless waits and journeys.”
