The municipality strengthens its leadership and expands in the sports-tourism segment. Registrations are now open for the Music Run Night Playa Blanca on 29 November.

Following the recent celebration of the Bestial Race Xtreme Yaiza 2025, which saw participation from around five hundred runners of various nationalities, Yaiza affirms its positioning as a leading municipality for sports on the island across diverse disciplines. This consolidates its role at the forefront of the strategic alliance between sports and tourism, which underpins its growth at local, regional, and national levels. High-profile events like the Lanzarote International Regatta, featuring Olympic athletes at Marina Rubicón, and the Xtreme Yaiza, part of the Bestial circuit of the Canary Islands, showcase this commitment. So far this year, Yaiza has hosted 13 sports events, with a further ten scheduled for the remainder of 2025.

Apart from these major national and international sporting events, Yaiza also hosts popular competitions, where both amateur and professional athletes compete, as seen in the Xtreme. These events also have a positive impact on the local economy. The Music Run Night Playa Blanca is one such event, with registrations just opened on summitsportsevents.com for the competition taking place on 29 November in Lanzarote’s primary tourist area.

Yaiza’s Mayor, Óscar Noda, stated, “We are consolidating our position as a sports tourism destination in line with the strategy of the Lanzarote Export Promotion Society (SPEL), in which we participate with funding.” Sports Councillor, Ángel Lago, highlighted “the collaborations and support between public institutions and the municipal financial contribution to sporting events like the Bestial Race Xtreme Yaiza, for which we allocated €18,000, in addition to the personnel and resources provided by the Council.”

In the women’s professional category, Verónica Sánchez (1:19:09 h), Belinda Gutiérrez, and Andrea Morales stood on the podium. The event attracted hundreds of fans to the town of Yaiza, who enjoyed a magnificent sporting spectacle featuring runners and athletes from all categories.
