Following the recent celebration of the Bestial Race Xtreme Yaiza 2025 last Saturday, the southern council remarked that “the municipality reaffirms itself as one of the most significant sports tourism destinations in Lanzarote and the Canary Islands.” With around five hundred runners from various nationalities competing in this obstacle race, Yaiza has hosted a total of thirteen sporting events so far this year, “a pace that reinforces its leadership in the sports and tourism segment,” they added.

The council elaborated that “the event, which has become one of the key references for insular sports, joins other renowned events such as the Lanzarote International Regatta, held at Marina Rubicón with the participation of Olympic athletes. These events, which already attract national and international attention, strengthen the municipality’s commitment to a model that integrates sport, tourism, and the local economy.”

“In addition to these major competitions, Yaiza continues to host popular events that draw both amateur and elite athletes. Among them is the Music Run Night Playa Blanca, which will kick off the sporting events calendar in the town on 29 November. Registrations are already open at summitsportsevents.com, further establishing Playa Blanca as a premier sports and tourism destination.”

Óscar Noda, the mayor of Yaiza, emphasised that the municipality “is consolidating as a sports tourism destination in line with the strategy of the Lanzarote External Promotion Society (SPEL), in which we participate with funding.”

Meanwhile, Ángel Lago, the Councillor for Sports, highlighted the institutional and economic support for the success of events like the Bestial Race Xtreme Yaiza. According to Lago, “the Town Hall committed €18,000 to this event, not including the staff and resources provided by municipal services.”
