Strong Winds Cause Damage in Lanzarote
The unusually strong winds currently affecting Lanzarote have posed serious challenges this Thursday. Among various incidents, the most significant for the Emergency and Security Consortium of the Cabildo involved the destruction of a pergola at a property on Los Volcanes Street in Puerto del Carmen, within the municipality of Tías.
At 10:40 am, the Consortium received an alert from the Coordinating Centre regarding a serious issue in this part of the tourist and residential area. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that a pergola had been lifted by the wind and posed a risk of falling.
After assessing the danger, they secured the area and placed the pergola safely on the ground before concluding their service.
