Individual Arrested for Drug Trafficking During Caleta de Famara Festivals
The Guardia Civil in Lanzarote arrested an individual on 29 August, accused of a drug trafficking offence for carrying various types of illicit substances during the festivities in Caleta de Famara.
Operation within Safety and Prevention Framework
This operation was conducted as part of the ongoing safety and prevention measures implemented at various locations across the island, aimed at enhancing surveillance in areas with significant foot traffic.
Suspicious Behaviour Leads to Identification
The Citizen Security Patrol of the Costa Teguise Company was conducting foot patrols along the main streets of the municipality. During their patrol, officers noticed a man whose behaviour immediately attracted their attention. Upon realising the presence of the officers, he displayed a visibly nervous and evasive attitude.
Seizure of Illicit Substances
From the very beginning, the officers identified the suspicious behaviour of this individual in public. In response to the situation, they proceeded to identify him, which subsequently led to the discovery of the substances he was carrying.
During the search, the officers seized a total of 20 small bags containing what preliminary evaluations suggest to be cocaine.
Additionally, several portions believed to be hashish were confiscated, alongside a sealed bag containing hallucinogenic mushrooms and several blue pills.
Judicial Proceedings Initiated
The proceedings, along with the detainee, have been submitted to the Court of Instruction No. 2 in Arrecife.
