The body of officers is currently undertaking a training course initiated by the Government of the Canary Islands to address situations involving foreign drivers and the management of their vehicles.
The Local Police of San Bartolomé Town Council is updating its knowledge on dealing with foreign vehicles and drivers through this training programme led by the Government of the Canary Islands.
Through this practical course, local officers are acquiring new strategies to effectively manage potential situations involving individuals driving in the island and municipality, and to attend to the requirements for documentation and other legislative matters.
Commitment to Continuous Improvement
The Mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, emphasised that “the continuous improvement of our Local Police is a firm commitment of this Town Council. We want our officers to have the necessary tools and training to respond effectively and professionally to the diverse situations that arise in the municipality, thus ensuring a close and quality public service.”
Enhanced Competencies in Document Verification
This refresher training enables officers to acquire skills in verifying documents (driving licences, passports, vehicle permits, etc.), identifying the authenticity of national and international permits through document examination, detecting alterations in identifying elements of vehicles, understanding the legislation applicable to illegal traffic, and managing databases for the consultation and verification of number plates, documents, and possible alerts, among other activities.
Collaboration with the Canary Academy of Security
San Bartolomé Town Council has requested the Canary Academy of Security, dependent on the Government of the Canary Islands, to launch several training courses aimed at further updating and expanding the knowledge of the Local Police force.
This week, the training initiative also involved officers from various municipalities in Lanzarote, as well as from Fuerteventura and La Palma, allowing for a practical instruction experience that facilitated the exchange of experiences and the collective enhancement of professional competencies.
Through this preparation, our officers are bolstering their capabilities to continue ensuring safety, trust, and excellence in public service in San Bartolomé.
