Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen Crowned Champions After Dominating Victory Over Club Balonmano Perdoma

The Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen women’s Division of Honour Oro team secured a new victory this Saturday at the Celestino Hernández Municipal Pavilion in Tenerife against the Club Balonmano Perdoma, finishing with a score of 15-42. This match was part of the fourth round of the Copa de Canarias, the final match for the Tiñosera club in the tournament.

Champions of the Copa de Canarias

With this win, the Tiñoseras claim the cup championship, finishing undefeated with four wins from four matches, regardless of the outcome of the final round, in which the aurinegras will not play. Meanwhile, Perdoma ranks fourth in the standings with two points after securing one victory and suffering two defeats in three matches thus far.

Match Overview

The match commenced with an early lead for the visitors, a trend that continued throughout. The Tiñoseras, despite not producing a standout performance, led by ten goals at halftime (10-20). As the second half progressed, the gap on the scoreboard only widened. The team, under Jesús Casanova’s management, concluded the match with a fifteen-goal advantage (15-42).

Top Performers

Yuli Quevedo emerged as the top scorer of the match and the Tiñosera team, netting ten goals. Mónica Cabrera also made a significant contribution, adding eight goals to the Tiñosera tally. For the Tenerife team, Nayara Armas scored nine goals but lacked support offensively, as only five players managed to find the net, with low scoring overall.

Coach’s Remarks

Following the match, coach Jesús Casanova commented, “We are gradually finding our rhythm. Defensively, we are still facing challenges, particularly in the centre of our defence. However, once we regain possession and are able to defend better, our transition to counter-attacks is improving. The positional attack looked quite good, especially considering we were missing Brenda and Dely, who only played ten minutes due to back pain. We’ve been training hard, and it seems we are slowly increasing our dynamic, but we remain quite concerned about our defensive issues. We now have two weeks until the start of the season. This week we’ll reduce our training intensity a bit since Monday is a holiday, and we will give the team a day off. At the moment, our priority is to recover the three or four players who are currently injured and to keep working hard; we are not yet at the level we desire. However, I believe that once we face competitive matches during the season, we will increase our performance, which is exactly what we need to compete effectively,” concluded Toño Cedrés.

Next Fixture

Jesús Casanova’s squad will start official competition in the Division of Honour Oro on 27 September at 20:30 (local time) at IDM Fuensanta in Córdoba, where they will face Rahi-Sepisur Córdoba.
