Tenerife Maintain Unbeaten Record with Away Victory Against Pontevedra
CD Tenerife secured their third consecutive win in the Primera Federación on Sunday, triumphing over Pontevedra CF away from home with a score of 0-2 at the Estadio Municipal de Pasarón. The team, known as the blanquiazules, dominated much of the match, thanks to goals from Jesús de Miguel in the first half and Landazuri in the second.
Early Chances
The first opportunity of the match fell to Pontevedra CF, when former Tenerife player Dani Selma dribbled past Dani Martín in the 11th minute, shooting towards goal but being denied by a clearance from David Rodríguez just on the goal line. For Tenerife, their first noteworthy attempt came in the 25th minute when Alassan headed towards Marqueta, but the goal was disallowed for a previous foul.
Taking the Lead
As the match progressed, Tenerife’s attacking pressure increased. In the 30th minute, Jesús de Miguel received a well-placed pass from Alassan inside the box, firing home to score the first goal for Tenerife and his fourth in just three matches (0-1). This advantage brought a sense of calm to CD Tenerife, who managed to maintain their lead until halftime (0-1).
Second Half Developments
Upon returning for the second half, the first notable action was a shot from Yelko Pino of Pontevedra in the 46th minute, which was superbly saved by Dani Martín. The ensuing phase of the match saw fewer significant chances, leading both coaches to make substitutions in hopes of rejuvenating their attacks.
Tenerife’s Noel López, who came on in the 70th minute, nearly added a second goal, but his header went off target. Shortly after, however, following a corner taken by Nacho Gil, Landazuri found space in the box to tap the ball home, confirming the score to 0-2 in the 76th minute.
Final Moments
In the closing stages, Pontevedra pushed forward in search of a goal. In stoppage time, a Galician attack, spearheaded by Tiago, forced Dani Martín into another magnificent save to prevent Pontevedra from scoring. Following this, the referee blew the final whistle, confirming a new victory for CD Tenerife in the Primera Federación (0-2).
With this win, the blanquiazules have reached nine points in the league table, remaining top of Group 1 of the Primera Federación with seven goals scored and none conceded. Under the management of Álvaro Cervera, the team continues to maintain their unbeaten record after three rounds of the competition.
Next Fixtures
The next official match for the blanquiazules will be held at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López next Sunday, where they will face Ourense CF (21/9, 11:00 hours).
